Overview

Emerge from the darkness in Xolo, an aquatic 2.5D puzzle adventure game in which you guide the axolotl-god Xolo on a journey of redemption. In 2012, the Sun has stopped and is demanding Xolo’s death. He must swim up the hole he hid himself in, raise the water, and come to terms with dying in order to save the world.

This project was made by five students during a 2-month internship.

Features

Aquatic adventure

Raise the water level by activating shrines to reach higher areas and open shortcuts before the water drops again.

Sacrifice

Sacrifice your tail (and yourself) to solve puzzles. Use your tail to push buttons, and die while holding objects to infuse them with life.

Death

Life flashes before your eyes. Learn snippets of Xolo’s story when you die, a tale heavily inspired by the Aztec creation myth.

Real mythology

Discover the sunken ruins of the Aztec capital, and swim upward through the layers of the region’s history.
